In some cases where the deployment of BACKUP HOST was done in a period when our team had BACKUPs stored on SYSTEM POOL, there could be a potential issue with the pool CAP.
In the process of the core system upgrade, a check is done to see if more than 51% of the system pool is occupied, if so, the script will silently exit.
To resolve this, we must do the following procedure,
Download upgrade package and then do below,
mkdir /tmp/srv4.1.2 - example tail -n+27 sw-coresys-update-4.1.2+build.94 | pv -s `stat -c %s sw-coresys-update-4.1.2+build.94` | tar -x -C /tmp/srv4.1.2 cd /tmp/srv4.1.2
Next, we will need to set the CAP space from 51% to whatever is needed depending on the occupation on the system pool drive, so let's say it is currently 60% occupied, we can check this by typing,
zpool list
NAME SIZE ALLOC FREE CKPOINT EXPANDSZ FRAG CAP DEDUP HEALTH ALTROOT
SYSTEM-d3c5 5.44T 2.92T 2.52T - - 36% 60% 1.00x ONLINE -
From above we can see that CAP is currently at 60%, to resolve this to be able to continue with our upgrade, we will change the CAP,
nano update_space
#!/bin/sh
POOL=$(echo $1 | awk -F '/' '{ print $1}')
CAP=$(zpool list -pH -o capacity $POOL)
if [ $CAP -gt 51 ]; then
exit 1
fi
exit 0
Change CAP from 51 to 75 in this case, specifically line below,
if [ $CAP -gt 51 ]; then if [ $CAP -gt 75 ]; then
