How to force calls with a specific area code to go via a particular trunk?

This article will explain how to force calls with a specific area code to go via a particular trunk.

Step 1: Create new route (add new destination code)

  • If it is necessary to add a new destination code (if it does not already exist on PBXware), please refer to the article provided here:  https://support.bicomsystems.com/a/solutions/articles/67000731854 This article explains the entire process.
  • If there is no need to add a new destination code, then you should find the destination group to which the code belongs, and the step mentioned above can be skipped.

Step 2: Select trunk under LCR section

  • Under Home -> LCR -> find route in question -> for example if that area code (destination group) is under USA route, click on "U" and choose USA, there will be shown the list of Destination groups under this route.

Here you will be able to define Primary, Secondary and Tertiary trunk for that specific area code.

For example, if we have added a test destination code (with the code 120255, as in my example), under the LCR section, one can define a specific trunk that will be used when extensions dial numbers starting with 120255.
