General :: HOWTO Special Routes

Special Routes provide a mechanism to route specific dialed numbers independently of standard call routing rules. Each Special Route is assigned a Type, such as Emergency, Info Services, or Other, which is used to classify the purpose of the route rather than to enforce the nature or format of the number.


The selected Type does not limit the destination or the type of number that can be configured. A Special Route of any type can route calls to a local extension, IVR, ring group, trunk, etc. The Type functions as a logical and administrative label that helps distinguish between critical call flows, informational services, and other scenarios requiring special handling.


This approach allows Special Routes to coexist with system-wide and tenant-level settings while providing clarity and maintainability for non-standard or exceptional routing requirements.
